I wanted to discuss some information from a SEO Search Engine Marketing conference that was held recently.
The conference included as usual search engines giants like Google and specifically Matt Cutts.
In and particular speech Matt Cutts took the liberty of randomly taking a look at individual peoples sites as attendees at this Search Engine Marketing speech were calling out website URL’s.
Matt used the tools in his possession to examine site information and in return gave some insight on why site may not be ranking well according to Google’s rules and or algorithms.
That not the unusual part of this process but something that was stated alarmed everyone in the room and to be truthful alarmed me and should open your eyes too.
The statement was that people with numerous domains and multiple websites might be penalized in ranking on search engines like Google. Google is said to be looking at this as spammy.
As an Internet Marketing SEO Consultant this raises allot of questions to why A good content, white hat website of anyone’s would be punished because they have more than one site.
Keep in mind that the site that was examined at the search engine marketing conference was thought to be white hat, no cross linking between sites, no apparent content scraping and the like.
This is another perfect example of why working to gain targeted traffic from alternative means is the perfect way to succeed on the Internet. The thought that Google is restricting someone from generating a multiple stream of income online with multiple domains and sites baffles me.
