As I perform my everyday searches on the Internet for any new information regarding the Internet Marketing world for Realtors I seem to come across the issue of duplicate web site content.
This topic appears to be the latest buzz term that has SEO Internet Marketers as well as realtor clients worried.
What exactly is duplicate content?
First of all I want to clear up the thought that articles or press releases listed on websites or distributed on websites are considered duplicate content. This is not true at all.
Article Marketing along with news worthy Press Releases witch appear on several websites because of there solid content value are completely white hat and are not what we are now calling duplicate web site content.
Although the original origin were the article was found first will get the credit and possible index love the links are still considered good link if related and your website will not be penalized.
Keep in mind that you do want to post articles and press releases that allow you to put on your website. You most definitely do not want to steal content with out permission and use it as your own.
Duplicate Web Site Content may be information that repeats on all of your website pages for the sole purpose of gaining the search engines.
Web Site copy that has been repeated word for word from another website and is not an Article or a Press Release may be considered duplicate content and your site may very well lose ranking if caught.
Search Engines like Google watch for this type of duplicate content and work hard with new developments and techniques to catch duplicate web site content and keep it out of there index.
Lets face it Google does not want there web searchers to receive two pages of the exact same content on a search query and to be honest you really do not want to have a cookie cutter website like twenty others. The idea is to give your visitors a unique experience and that’s exactly what Google is looking for Unique website content so you benefit both your readers and the major search engines.
If you truly want to use a point of view that you found on another website it is probably best that you rewrite the content in your own words to make it unique and yours.
